What day is my delivery?
You can check when your delivery will be arriving next by looking at our Delivery Schedule. Our schedule is organised by suburb in alphabetical order.
Please note that deliveries will be scheduled on the nearest delivery day from when an order is placed for suburbs that we visit multiple times per week.
Example One: If you order a cylinder on Sunday afternoon for North Richmond, your order will be completed on the closest North Richmond delivery day, which would be Monday.
Example Two: If you instead placed an order on Monday evening for North Richmond, your order would be filled on the next North Richmond delivery day, which would be Wednesday.
What are some things I need to consider before ordering a cylinder exchange?
Once you have placed your order, make sure the path to the cylinders is kept clear of any obstacles or safety risks. This includes hoses, debris, rubbish bins, cars in driveways, children's toys and more.
It is also important to plan safe areas that pets can be kept in while our drivers complete your delivery.
What do I do if there are access issues to my cylinders?
In some instances terrain, weather or unrestrained dogs may make the delivery unsafe. Our drivers will try to call you to find a workable solution, however if we are unable to reach you, we may have to continue moving, which would result in a failed delivery.
If the obstacles are permanent, we will work with you to find a solution that suits everyone. This could include designating a safe spot for cylinders to be exchanged (not at the set-up), or providing recommendations on safe and accessible locations for your equipment to be moved to.
Reach out to us and we will try to do what we can to find a workable solution.
What time can I expect my delivery to arrive?
It is very difficult to provide accurate timing of our delivery personnel. They could be stuck at the Sackville Ferry or bogged up in Bilpin, or simply out of reception up in Maroota.
A lot can change on the job, and no two deliveries are the same.
For this reason, we ask that properties are left in an accessible state for our drivers between 7am - 3pm on your delivery day.
I think I may have a gas leak, how do I check?
The best and simplest way to check for a gas leak is to fill a spray bottle with a mixture of dishwashing liquid and water (but any bubbly spray will work just fine too!).
Give the bottle a good shake, and start spraying your equipment starting with the major joints. If there are any spots where new bubbles are forming, you most likely have a leak.
Spray over your equipment in the following order to make sure you don't miss anything:
- Coat the valve connection point of each cylinder;
- Follow the copper pig tails up to where they meet your regulator and give this point a good spray;
- Spray the front face of the regulator;
- Spray above the regulator where it meets the base of the manual changeover valve (common area for leaks!)
- Follow the regulator down and spray the joint beneath the reg.
This should cover the most common spots that leaks pop up.
If you are ever worried, take some photos of the areas you think may have a leak covered in soapy water, and send them through to help@flamingogas.com.au. We will try our best to provide guidance and next steps!
How do I activate my online account?
To utilise the online store, you will need to be sent an activation link from our staff.

How much does a 45kg cylinder exchange cost?
Shoot us through an email or give us a call, and we can let you know the current pricing for our services!
What types of cylinders do you offer services around?
We can fill any cylinder with a POL fitting that does not belong to another company. If it belongs to Flamingo Gas or has 'Customer Owned' inscribed on the neck of the cylinder, chances are we can fill it!
Just make sure you give us a call to double check prior to driving over to our workshop in Mulgrave.
Walk-Ins
If you would like a cylinder filled, please contact our office prior to arrival to confirm whether personnel will be on-site to assist you.
Home (45kg) & Forklift (18kg)
- Flamingo Gas is bound by industry agreements and cannot fill cylinders belonging to other companies. Your cylinder must have have "Flamingo Gas" or "Customer Owned Cylinder" engraved in the neck of your cylinders in order for us to fill them.
- Examples of cylinders we cannot fill include but are not limited to Elgas, Linde, Origin, Supagas, Kleenheat and BOC Gases.
BBQ Bottles
- All BBQ bottles are considered to be "Customer Owned", so there shouldn't be any issues filling these!
Smaller Caravan-style Bottles
- We are able to fill smaller bottles, but only if they have a POL valve.
What happens now after I had a failed delivery?
If you have received a message stating your delivery was unable to be completed, you will need to give our office a call.
We typically reschedule a delivery for your next delivery day, but it is important to confirm this date works for you with our office, otherwise it could lead to a failed delivery the following week.
I am new to LPG, how do I use my equipment safely?
We will be popping some quick and simple safety videos on our website shortly, so watch this space!
Additionally, if you are starting with LPG for the first time, let our admin staff know and they can organise for our drivers to give you a run down of the basics while in on-site at your property.
How do I check the gas levels in my cylinders?
You can perform a 'hot water test' to roughly determine the gas levels remaining in your cylinders. This involves pouring hot water (not boiling!) on the cylinders and then running your hand down the cylinder. Where it quickly feels cool or cold is where your LPG is. It sounds a little funny, but there are some youtube videos you can search that show how you can do it.
Some people also buy a small pressure that fits between the cylinder and pigtail valves. We have found that this equipment can be pretty unreliable. We are often called out to swap over cylinders based on their readings, only to find the cylinders are still full.
Is there a chance I was delivered an empty cylinder?
Our cylinders are filled by our local staff members who follow the same procedure each day:
- An empty cylinder is brought back to the yard from a customer's home.
- The empty cylinder (35kg approximately without LPG in it) is manually taken off the vehicle and manoeuvred to our filling station.
- The cylinder is connected to our filling equipment. Our staff then manually input the tare weight of the cylinder.
- Unless we hit an emergency stop button, the bottle is filled to within 100g of 45kg automatically.
- Our driver then disconnects the full cylinder (approximately 80kg now) and manoeuvres each cylinder back onto our delivery vehicles.
- The full cylinder is then driven to the next customer's address and manoeuvred from our vehicle to the LPG equipment on site.
There is a huge weight difference between empty and full cylinders that our drivers can feel instantly.
With the amount of manual handling involved, it is impossible for our drivers to mistakingly drop off an empty cylinder to a property.
We take pride in being a moral, local business, and we can say hand on our hearts that we have never dropped off an empty cylinder in all the year we have been in business.
If you are ever worried that your cylinder isn't full, you are more than welcome to pop one on a scale immediately after being dropped off - we can't stop you!
